The Importance of Self-Worth

Updated: Feb 12, 2019

I had a good conversation with a Doctor not to long ago and we stumbled upon this subject.

Being that we both work with patients whom are being seen due to work injuries I believe as did the doctor I was speaking with that most individuals that are being treated for a work injury honestly just want to get better and get back to work.

The stigma that comes with being out of work can deeply effect an individual and their outlook on everything. And generally, depending on the seriousness of the injury the more it will affect them mentally due to the amount of time it most likely take them to heal and get back on their feet.

Being injured not only slows you down physically but can really take a toll on every aspect of your life, never mind barely being able to get by with a fraction of normal wages. People tend to take pride in what they do! Most conversations with strangers start off with, so, what do you do for a living.

Being able to be a fully functional individual and work at your profession is important. Not just for the sake of making a living but for ones self-worth.

So for anyone out there that’s in this situation, please know that there are people that know you’re telling the truth when you tell them you just want to get better so that you can get back to work.

My advice is to buckle down, stick to your treatment plan and you’ll get there. It’s just a matter of time, patience & personal resolve.
